RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
CATECHISTS are volunteer parishioners who are trained to provide the religious education for the parish children. Catechists are always needed for our program. If you can volunteer to teach, aide or substitute, please contact Religious Education Coordinator or the Pastor.
Classes provide our parish children, grades second through eighth, and teenagers the opportunity to experience Jesus and learn about the teachings of the Church through class activities, prayer, celebrations and faith sharing. The program also prepares our children for the reception of the Sacraments of Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Confirmation.
Children
Religious Education classes for students attending public and non-parochial school are held on Wednesdays 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm for all grades at St. Adalbert Parish Center. Children attend one of the Sunday Masses. All students must be enrolled prior to attending class. Registration takes place in the summer months with exact dates given in the Parish bulletin. To register please write ccd@stadalbert.us.
Reception of Sacraments
The preparation process for the Sacraments of First Eucharist, First Reconciliation and Confirmation are coordinated for all families of our parish through the Office of Religious Education. Two years of Formal Religious Education are required prior to the reception of sacraments.
First Communion:
St. Adalbert/Sts. Peter and Paul Parish celebrates First Holy Communion with children in the second or third grade of school. Classes for First Communion are on Wednesdays 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm in English. The First Eucharist is celebrated normally on the third Sunday of the month of May at St. Adalbert Church.
Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated with high school students. Classes are held on Wednesday’s evenings at 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The sacrament is celebrated every other year.
Adults
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults:
St. Adalbert/Sts. Peter and Paul Parish hosts R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). The R.C.I.A. process is designed to welcome new members into the Catholic Church and at the same time lead baptized Catholics to a deeper belief and renewal of their Christian Faith. These candidates prepare for the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and First Eucharist). St. Adalbert/Sts. Peter and Paul Parish invites those who are searching to come to a unique process of initiation, education, formation, and spiritual growth.
If you are not baptized, baptized in another Christian Faith, need to complete your Christian Initiation, and wish to learn about and experience the Catholic Faith, R.C.I.A. is for you. For more information, ccd@stadalbert.us or please call the parish office at 908-352-2791.
